Rafik Boubker: The Rebellious Actor

Rafik Boubker is one of the most creative and talented Moroccan actors. The public discovered him in the early 2000s, when he participated in the successful comedy Les amours de Hajj al-Mokhtar Assoldi, before playing other roles that contributed to the development of his fame on the Moroccan artistic scene.

He was born in Casablanca on March 12, 1973. He studied in Italy, where he obtained a degree in audiovisual communication from the University of Turin, before going into the world of theater and cinema, which he is passionate about.

The public appreciates him very much for his spontaneity and humility, beyond his media appearances and controversial statements which often attract him some criticism, the effect of which quickly fades away in view of the love that the public has for him because of his frankness and sincerity.

One of his most successful experiences as an actor, and above all the one that made the greatest impression on television viewers, was his performance in the TV film “La classe N°8”. Directors are also interested in Rafik Boubker and often request him, because his presence in any work is a guarantee of success, even if they have locked him in the role of the rebel, a choice that he himself appreciates because it resembles what he is actually like in reality.

Rafik Boubker has been in many films including “The Road to Kabul” by Brahim Chakiri, “La symphonie marocaine” by Kamal Kamal and “Les anges de Satan” by Ahmed Boulane, in addition to his film “Ex Chamkar” and “Oueld Al Hamria”. However, his appearances in series and sitcoms are rather rare.

Rafik Boubker caused a great controversy a few weeks ago, after his appearance in a video broadcast on social networks, drunk and making insulting remarks about prayer and Imams. It was this video that led to his arrest, before he was released pending trial on 14 July on a charge of insulting the Muslim religion.
