Syrian 10-Day-Old Baby Flies to Israel for Open Heart Surgery

The baby was born with a severe heart defect to Syrian refugee parents in Cyprus.

On Wednesday, a ten-day-old boy was brought to Israel for emergency heart surgery.

He was diagnosed in Cyprus with a very rare and serious heart condition

The Cypriot Ministry of Health and Cypriot and Israeli doctors all agreed that he should be immediately taken to Israel for surgery at the Sheba Medical Center, Tel Hashomer in Ramat Gan.

Arrangements were made by the Israeli Embassy in Cyprus for the baby to come to Israel, including the lifting of the immediate quarantine on landing for him and his father, and he was transported by plane in an air ambulance.

Shmuel Revel, Israel’s Ambassador to Cyprus, said that “this was an important case of cooperation with Cyprus”.

” We are all praying for the baby’s recovery,” Revel added.
