The editor of the weekly Al Ayam, Noureddine Miftah, was recently elected head of the Moroccan Federation of Newspaper Publishers (FMEJ) at an exceptional general meeting held on Friday in Casablanca.
At the beginning of this assembly, Bahia Amrani, director of the weekly Le Reporter, resigned from the presidency of this professional grouping.
In a statement to the press, Miftah welcomed the confidence that members of the FMEJ had placed in him once again, after having held the same position for three consecutive terms between 2011 and 2018. This assembly comes in a challenging situation for the media sector, although opportunities can be created in times of adversity, he said, noting in this regard that the current crisis has recalled the need to unite the efforts of the various operators concerned to restore the image of the national press.
