Saad-Eddine El Othmani: The Virus Is Still with Us, and We Are Not Out of the Pandemic Yet

During the reign of HM King Mohammed VI, Morocco has achieved important accomplishments and achieved great successes as attested by everyone, the head of government, Saad-Eddine El Othmani, said on Thursday in Rabat. The way in which Morocco has managed, under the leadership of the Sovereign, the Coronavirus pandemic is proof “of the great progress achieved by our country”, he added.

During the opening of the proceedings of the Governing Council, El Othmani indicated that the celebration of the 21st anniversary of the enthronement of King Mohammed VI coincides this year with the first ten days of the blessed month of Dou Al Hijja and the atmosphere prior to the blessed Eid al-Adha. On this occasion, El Othmani expressed his congratulations to the Sovereign, Amir Al Mouminine and the entire Moroccan people, as well as his wishes of health and well-being for the Sovereign, affirmed the Minister Delegate in charge of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Driss Ouaouicha, during a press briefing at the end of this council.

The head of government also stressed that despite the proactive measures taken by Morocco in the health, economic and social fields to cope with the Covid-19 pandemic and mitigate its effects, “the virus is still among us, and we are not yet out of the pandemic”.

“Although our country has avoided the worst, it is still necessary to show the utmost caution and to respect the preventive measures imposed by the competent public authorities. These include health, safety and other measures to protect the country and its people. The decisions taken by our country have made it possible to preserve the safety and health of all citizens,” stressed El Othmani.

He took this opportunity to praise the wise and far-sighted decision taken by King Mohammed VI to create a special fund dedicated to the management of the Coronavirus pandemic. “This initiative,” he said, “is an example to follow and has provided direct support to millions of citizens during the period of health confinement”.
