Fatna Chanane Exhibition in Huelva: A Storm of Colour under a Closed Sky

Having been stranded in Spain for more than four months, the Moroccan painter Fatna Chanane has decided to turn this experience into a spark of creativity through a solo exhibition of some thirty works.

Entitled “Confined Symphony”, this exhibition of 32 paintings is an invitation to change our view on what makes our freedom, our weakness transformed into strength and into creation, but also an invitation to travel in a situation where travelling is not allowed.

Exhibited until August 5 in the lobby of the Hotel Martin Alonso Pinzon, in the coastal city of Mazagon (Huelva), the new works of Fatna Chanane are filled with reality, as well as dreams.

From this forced confinement, from this Spanish “exile”, Fatna Chanane has created a universe, inhabited by new forms, new souls, invited to move in a new setting, that of a hotel transformed into a fortress.

In the spirit of sharing, because an artist is never “complete” without these foreign glances on his creations, Fatna Chanane has decided to exhibit her works born from her “forced exile”, in the hotel where she has been living for more than four months. A very special confinement which gives a beautiful exhibition project and above all a meaning to this story.

All the profits from these works will be devoted to the setting up and sponsoring of art and painting schools for children (under 12 years old) in two villages in the South of Morocco (Ouirgane and Ksar Azekour) and in a Senegalese village.

Fatna Chanane’s exhibitions have been rewarded by various prizes. These include the Carrousel du Louvre in Paris, Lac Saint-Jean de Saguenay in Canada, the “Moukawila Trophy”, in the Art category in 2017, and a bronze medal diploma from the International Academy “French Merit and Dedication” in April 2018, and in the same year, she was also awarded the “Spade Maroc 2018” African Award of Excellence.
