Aid Al Adha: The Images of the Taourirt Market Shock the Web (VIDEO)

Based on images shared on social networks, one of the busiest “souks of sheep” in the town of Taourirt seemed little concerned by the health measures imposed by the competent authorities in Morocco. This was despite the high daily toll of infected people and the recommendations of the Ministry of Health to respect physical distance and avoid gatherings.

Internet users have denounced the attitude of “all those who went to this sheep market”, and “seemed totally unaware of the situation our country is going through”. A video, also posted on the Internet, shows the crowded market, with citizens behaving as if nothing had happened, despite the instructions given by a loudspeaker reminding them of the precautions they should take to protect themselves from the virus.

The holiday of Aid Al-Adha comes this year in a particular situation requiring more “maturity” and “responsibility” to protect ourselves against the pandemic of the new coronavirus (covid-19), said Health Minister Khalid Ait Taleb on Saturday.

” Next week we welcome Aid Al-Adha, which is an opportunity for families to gather around the same table. This opportunity comes this year in a particular and difficult situation, which requires maturity and responsibility to avoid unnecessary visits and physical contact and to ensure compliance with preventive measures during family gatherings,” said Ait Taleb speaking at a webinar.

“One of the key measures to prevent Covid-19 is social distancing,” he said, noting that reconfinement “can still be considered at any time in case of non-compliance with prevention and security measures, since the virus is always present and waiting for the slightest opportunity to spread further.

811 new cases of coronavirus infection (Covid-19) and 182 cures were recorded in Morocco on Saturday evening, during the last 24 hours. As for the geographical distribution of the new cases, 455 cases have been recorded in the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region.
