The city of Marrakech is one of the top 25 popular destinations and must-see cities in the world in 2020, according to the latest ranking established by the world travel and tourism advice website “TripAdvisor”.
The ochre city is ranked 21st out of the 25 destinations selected by the said site on the basis of the opinions, evaluations and views of travellers from all over the world. It thus ranks behind Siem Reap (20th) in Cambodia and ahead of Lisbon (22nd) in Portugal.
It is the 2nd destination in the Arab world after Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates, which ranks 12th.
Thanks to this ranking, the city of Marrakech is positioned alongside other world-renowned tourist destinations such as London (1st/United Kingdom), Paris (2nd/France), Crete (3rd/Greece), Bali (4th/Indonesia), Rome (5th/Italy), Phuket (6th/Thailand), Sicily (7th/Italy), Majorca (8th/Balearic Islands), Barcelona (9th/Spain), Istanbul (10th/Turkey), Bangkok (14th/Thailand), Tokyo (23rd/Japan) and New York (25th/United States).
“Marrakech, the red city, is a place full of magic, with its countless markets, gardens, palaces and mosques,” writes “TripAdvisor” on its website.
“Devote a whole day to discover the Medina and its secret courtyards and wander through its winding streets. Then go and recharge your batteries in the calm and peace of the Jardin Majorelle or admire all the splendour of one of the city’s old mosques”, the same source points out.
In addition, “TripAdvisor” has published a list of the best activities to do when travelling around the world in 2020.
On this list, a one-day guided tour from Marrakech to the Atlas Mountains and the three valleys with waterfalls is ranked 7th in the top 25 “World Experiences” recommended by the prestigious specialized site.
“TripAdvisor” is the world’s largest travel platform, helping 463 million travelers every month to make each trip experience feel special.
Travellers from all over the world use the TripAdvisor site and application to consult more than 859 million reviews and opinions on 8.3 million accommodation establishments, restaurants, experiences, airlines and cruises.
