Ittihad Tangier: 23 Players and Staff Members Tested Positive for Coronavirus

On Sunday morning, Ittihad Tangier’s officials announced that twenty-three players and members of the club’s administrative and technical staff have tested positive for the new Coronavirus.

“The club is deeply saddened to announce that the results of the Coronavirus tests, carried out on Saturday morning, revealed 23 cases of contamination,” as stated by the management of Ittihad Tangier on its official Facebook page.

The cases involved sixteen players, two members of the coaching staff, a member of the medical staff, three members of the club management and a member in charge of equipment.

As the symptoms of the disease appeared in several members of staff and players of the team, the screening tests were immediately carried out. This was despite the numerous preventive measures put in place and the full respect of the health protocol, the club reported.

Ittihad Tangier, which was scheduled to play at home on Tuesday against the Renaissance of Berkane, is in 15th position in the Botola, with 15 points after 20 games.
