On Tuesday, a fire broke out in the Tighmert oasis (province of Guelmim), destroying several palm trees and causing significant property damage, local authorities said.
The fire also resulted in the death of a number of livestock and caused damage to some homes, according to the same sources.
According to the same sources, the fire broke out around noon at the level of this oasis, located in the commune of Asrir. The fire was triggered by the rise in temperature (about 47 degrees), it was added noting that the fire was brought under control as of 20H00, following the action of elements of the Civil Protection of Guelmim and Sidi Ifni, with the support of local authorities and other participants.
A civil protection plane, coming from Agadir, was used to extinguish the fire.
