Hypermarkets, Shopping Centers, Stores … Maximum Caution in Rabat

The Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region is very cautious. The authorities are on the watch and are constantly reinforcing sanitary measures.

We also note that in Rabat, citizens are very careful to wear masks in public spaces, unlike in Casablanca where this is not always the case. In shopping malls, the temperature is systematically taken for visitors. In stores, bookstores or stationery stores, customers are asked to wait when it is too crowded.

Another example, the Wali of the Region has taken a measure concerning all hypermarkets. A decision that consists in prohibiting access to hypermarkets to people who do not reside in Rabat. As a safety measure, the Rbati will now have to show an identity document at the entrance of these hypermarkets, in order to prove that they do indeed reside in the capital.

Finally, it should be noted that large supermarkets such as Marjane have decided to apply PCR tests to their employees in order to guarantee even greater security for customers. “The test is a barrier instrument that, by isolating positive cases, prevents the spread of the virus. We have therefore decided to use PCR tests massively and voluntarily. More than 10,000 tests have been carried out between August 1st and 20th, which is quite significant… But others will have to follow regularly in the framework of this fight that the whole country is carrying out but which concerns the supermarkets in a particular way… With women and men to whom I pay a sincere tribute for what they achieve every day in these very singular times”, explains Azami Ayoub, CEO of the Marjane Group.

The region of Rabat is affected by the Coronavirus, but it is much less affected than Casablanca, Tangier, Fez or Marrakech where the sharp rise in positive cases during the month of August forced the authorities to close the beaches and to sanction businesses that do not comply with sanitary hygiene measures.
