Rabat-Salé-Kénitra: The New Decision of the Wali of the Region

Following the dramatic increase in the number of Coronavirus cases, the wali of the Region of Rabat-Salé-Kénitra decided to implement a measure concerning the large surfaces of the capital. Accordingly, he banned access to “Marjane” supermarkets to customers not residing in Rabat.

Many citizens were displeased by this decision. Especially those living outside Rabat, but who come daily to their workplaces. The latter are now prohibited, by law enforcement officers, to shop in Marjane or to buy their sandwiches for lunch, for the simple reason that they do not have an address built on their CIN.

Officials at the mall explain the decision to citizens, as reported by Moroccan press sources, citing “instructions from the wali”. Other customers, even those living in Rabat, refused to show their CINs and were prevented from entering the mall.
