Abderrahmane Youssoufi Honored in a New Publication

The National Council for Human Rights (CNDH) and La Croisée des Chemins published a book entitled “Abderrahmane Youssoufi: Journey of an Exceptional Statesman”, in homage to the soul of the famous former Prime Minister, Ittihadi activist and socialist leader whom Moroccans loved and respected, and who died on May 29.

Supervised by Amina Bouayach, the president of the CNDH, the book includes contributions from 45 national and international personalities who knew the late Prime Minister and accompanied him during different periods of his career of activism for the country. These personalities gave testimony in different languages: Arabic, Amazigh, French, English and Spanish. The book also contains letters of condolence written by several figures and actors as well as photos commemorating the most important stages in the late Si Abderrahmane’s special journey.

The book has been contributed by former presidents, including former French President François Holland and former Tunisian Prime Minister Mohamed Moncef Marzouki, as well as secretaries-general of the United Nations, Socialist International and the Arab Maghreb Union: Antonio Guterres, Luis Ayala, Taieb Baccouche, José Luis Zapatero the former head of the Spanish government, Mustapha Ben Jaafar the former head of the Tunisian government, in addition to other former prime ministers, Lakhdar Brahimi, Jean-Pierre Chevènement, Miguel Angel Moratinos, Mohammed Fayek the president of the Network of African National Human Rights Institutions, as well as two members of the Senate Isabel Allende Bussi and Pedro Bofill Abeilhe, in addition to two rights activists Hanny Megally and Maan Bashour and a group of intellectuals and journalists including Domingo Del Pino, Pedro Canales, Burhan Ghalioun and Michel Kilo.

André Azoulay, advisor to HM King Mohammed VI, also participated in the book, as well as Omar Azziman, former Prime Minister Driss Jettou and Speaker of the House of Representatives Habib El Malki and political actors Mohamed El Yazghi, Abdelwahed Radi, Mohammed Bensaid Ait Ider in addition to former ministers Nezha Chekrouni and Aicha Belarbi, Abdellah Saaf, Mohamed Aujjar, Fathallah Oualalou, Mohamed El Hajjoui, Mohamed Said Saadi, and presidents of national institutes. These include Ahmed Lahlimi Alami, Driss Guerraoui, Mehdi Qotbi, and diplomats such as Boughaleb El Attar, Mohammed Dehbi, and intellectuals Jaquleline Loghlam (Zakia Daoud), Tahar Benjelloun, Abdelillah Belkeziz, Mohamed Sassi in addition to civil society actors such as Mohammed Sadiki and Mohamed Karam.
