RAS AL KHAIMAH HALF MARATHON 2021 PARTNERS WITH ANGHAMI TO CREATE ULTIMATE RUNNING PLAYLIST

  • Participants in the 19 February 2021 race are invited to send in favourite running songs to be compiled into comprehensive event playlist
  • Registration closes 31 January 2021 with less than 800 spots available for the Half Marathon category

6th January 2020, Ras Al Khaimah, UAE: Every fitness fanatic has their favourite tunes to help them hit their stride. To compile the ultimate running playlist – as chosen by runners themselves – Ras Al Khaimah Half Marathon has teamed up with the Arab world’s first music streaming platform Anghami.

Runners set to lace up for the February 19 prestigious event are invited to submit a song that gets them motivated during a run, pumped-up for a race or even sprinting during a speed session.

Participants can send in their track(s) via the event’s official social media channels. RAK Half Marathon organisers will then work with official music partner Anghami to collate the songs into a #RAKHALF2021 playlist, as well as additional compilations to support the remaining virtual training runs.

Elie Abou Saleh, VP, GCC said: “Over 60% of our users in the UAE access our platform while working out. This makes it a natural evolution for us to extend our footprint into the biggest sports events across our core markets. Our partnership with Ras Al Khaimah Half Marathon is one of many to follow.’’

Hundreds of runners are set to compete in the 15th edition of the famous race, which will take place at Al Marjan Island on February 19, 2021. Officially known as the world’s fastest half marathon, it has consistently drawn the best international athletes and amateurs from around the globe. Registration closes at the end of January, so runners are urged to sign up soon as slots are limited, with less than 800 available for the half marathon category.

The event is organised by Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (RAKTDA) and RCS Sports and Events. The previous edition of the race was held in February 2020 and attracted more than 5,000 participants.

Anghami is the first legal music streaming platform and digital distribution service in the Middle East and North Africa. It launched in 2012 and is now the region’s premier music service with a catalogue comprising more than 30 million Arabic and international songs to stream and download.
