Morocco tops 400 daily Covid cases

A total of 427 new cases of infection with the new coronavirus (Covid-19) and 177 recoveries have been recorded in Morocco in the last 24 hours, the Ministry of Health and Social Protection said on Wednesday.

In its daily bulletin on the epidemiological situation, the Ministry noted that the number of people who received the first dose of the vaccine reached 24,513,189, that of those who received two doses amounted to 22,865,382, while 2,533,514 people received three injections of the vaccine.

The new infection toll brings the total number of infections since the first case was reported in Morocco in March 2020 to 953,724, while the number of people who have recovered has risen to 936,960, representing a 98.2% cure rate.

The new cases were recorded in the regions of Casablanca-Settat (226), Rabat-Salé-Kénitra (118), Marrakech-Safi (47), Tanger-Tétouan-Al Hoceima (10), Souss-Massa (9), Fès-Meknès (9), Oriental (3), Beni Mellal-Khénifra (3) and Drâa-Tafilalet (2).

The total number of deaths rose to 14,817 (case-fatality 1.6%), with 3 new cases recorded in the regions of Casablanca-Settat (2) and Rabat-Salé-Kénitra (1).

Active cases numbered 1,947, while severe or critical cases reached 8 in 24 hours, bringing their total to 94. As for the occupancy rate of the resuscitation beds, it is at a rate of 1.8%.
