A total of 8,826 new cases of infection with the new coronavirus (Covid-19) and 5,196 recoveries have been recorded in Morocco in the last 24 hours, the Ministry of Health and Social Protection said on Saturday.
In its daily bulletin on the epidemiological situation, the Ministry noted that the number of people who received their first vaccination reached 24,612,592, that of people who received two doses amounted to 23,008,141, while 3,780,397 people received three injections.
The new infection toll brings the total number of infections since the first case was reported in March 2020 to 1,043,225, while the number of people recovered has risen to 972,291, representing a cure rate of 93.2%.
The new cases were recorded in the regions of Casablanca-Settat (4,191), Rabat-Salé-Kénitra (1,505), Marrakech-Safi (903), Fès-Meknès (539), Tanger-Tétouan-Al Hoceima (525), Souss-Massa (444), and Tanger-Tétouan-Al Hoceima (525).505), Marrakech-Safi (903), Fès-Meknès (539), Tanger-Tétouan-Al Hoceima (525), Souss-Massa (444), Beni Mellal-Khénifra (251), Drâa-Tafilalet (145), l’Oriental (126), Guelmim-Oued Noun (102), Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra (75) and Dakhla-Oued Eddahab (19).
The total number of deaths rose to 14,963 (case-fatality 1.4%), with 9 new cases recorded in the regions of Casablanca-Settat (4), Rabat-Salé-Kénitra (1), Marrakech-Safi (1), Fès-Meknès (1), Souss-Massa (1), Laâyoune-Sakia (1).
The number of active cases is 55,971 and 107 new severe or critical cases have been recorded in 24 hours for a total of 464, including 16 under intubation. The occupancy rate of the resuscitation beds is 8.8%.
