A mentally ill man attacked citizens on Thursday 20 January in Jamaat Shaim, on the outskirts of Safi province, and injured a woman and a man with a knife.
According to a Moroccan press source, the individual, with a knife in his hand, caused panic on the public highway, especially after he attacked a citizen and wounded her, and chased a man in the street to do the same to him.
Immediately alerted, members of the Royal Gendarmerie in Jamaat Shaim went to the scene and were able to restrain the suspect and present him to the competent public prosecutor. The individual was subjected to a medical examination to determine whether he was really suffering from mental disorders.
As a reminder, another mentally ill person murdered a French citizen last Saturday in Tiznit, before attacking another tourist who suffered serious injuries.
