Open borders: children aged 6 to 18 exempted from the vaccination pass

After the reopening of air and sea borders, the government has announced the conditions of entry to the national territory for travellers from abroad. The latter are requested to present their vaccination passport with a PCR test less than 48 hours old. This condition is not applicable to children under six years of age, according to the Minister of Health, Khalid Ait Taleb, who gave more details on this subject during his visit to the CGEM where he accompanied the Head of Government, Aziz Akhannouch. The minister returned to the new health protocol put in place at border posts. According to him, children from 6 to 18 years old will not need a vaccination pass as they can enter Morocco by presenting only a health pass. “Children from 0 to 6 years old are not concerned by vaccination and the PCR test is not required of them, while children from 6 to 18 years old must only present a health pass without any obligation to be vaccinated,” he explained, justifying this by the fact that vaccination is not recommended to this category in several countries.

On the other hand, Moroccan children, aged 12 to 18, who want to leave the national territory, must present a vaccination pass, Khalid Ait Taleb said. That said, going abroad implies for this category to be vaccinated. It should be remembered that Morocco has launched a vast vaccination campaign in the various schools. So far, 76% of children in this category have taken at least the first dose and 62% have taken the two injections. It should be recalled that Morocco decided to reopen its borders on 7 February after a closure that had lasted since 28 November. The authorities accompanied this decision with a new health protocol.
