During a press conference on the state of relations between Spain and Morocco, Pedro Sanchez described relations between the two countries as “positive”.
The Head of the Spanish Executive said that Spain is an important ally of Morocco in several areas, including immigration, economic development, security, etc. He said that Spain is “a very important ally of Morocco within the European Union. Mr Sanchez had already said this during his reception on 17 January of his German counterpart Olaf Schulz. On that occasion, he said that Spain and Morocco have “strategic cooperation” in all areas. “For Spain, Morocco is a strategic partner with whom we must work together”, he said.
It should be remembered that during the ceremonial reception given to the diplomatic corps accredited to Spain on the same day, the Iberian King, Felipe VI, spoke of Morocco, highlighting the importance of redefining the relationship between the two countries on “stronger and more solid pillars”. “With Morocco, our respective governments have agreed to redefine together a relationship for the 21st century, based on stronger and more solid pillars,” he said, adding that the two nations must walk together to start materialising this new relationship now.
