Morocco negotiates purchase of military mine-resistant vehicles made in Ukraine

The Royal Armed Forces (RAF) is reportedly negotiating with the Ukrainian authorities for the purchase of armored military vehicles, type VARTA, with mine-resistant capacity. This type of armored vehicle is manufactured by the Ukrainian company “Ukrainian Armor”.

Negotiations seem to be at an advanced stage, according to the media Tactical report, which indicates that the parties are close to an agreement.

According to the media specialized in military industries “Army Recognition”, a delegation of the Royal Moroccan Armed Forces went, in December 2020, to visit the armor factory of the Ukrainian company. During this visit, the Moroccan delegation attended a demonstration of the combat capabilities of armored vehicles, with air defense systems.

The same source provides more technical information on this armored vehicle requested by Morocco. Equipped with a 6-cylinder turbo diesel engine, this Ukrainian vehicle can run at a maximum speed of 100 km/h. It also has a protection against mines and against the explosion of 6 kg of TNT under the wheels and the floor of the vehicle.
