Renewable energy: Morocco and Saudi Arabia 

These agreements were signed by the Minister of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development, Laila Benali, and the Saudi Minister of Energy, Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, during a ceremony attended by the Moroccan Ambassador in Riyadh, Mustapha Mansouri, and many officials of the Saudi Ministry of Energy.

It should be noted that the cooperation between the two countries in the field of peaceful uses of atomic energy and renewable energy aims to meet their needs for the development of new energy sources, and confirms their commitment to the importance of securing the energy supply of both countries. The two sides also support their efforts to develop civil and peaceful uses of atomic energy to ensure security and environmental protection.

Thus, the Memorandum of Understanding in the field of renewable energy aims to develop cooperation and exchange of information and experiences on policies, legislative regulations, preliminary studies and project proposal mechanisms related to the sector. It also strengthens efforts to explore and localize value chains and promotes the discussion of investment and financing opportunities in both countries to support efforts to localize renewable energy industries and develop their projects.

Under this agreement, the two countries will support cooperation in the field of research and development, strengthen human skills in this area and encourage the study of opportunities to raise the level of technology and their applications in the field of renewable energy.

With regard to the Framework Agreement for Cooperation in the Peaceful Uses of Atomic Energy, it provides for cooperation in several areas, including basic and applied research in the peaceful uses of the atom, and matters related to nuclear reactors.
