At the invitation of the President of the House of Councillors, Naama Mayara, the President of the Mexican Senate, Olga Sanchez Cordero begins, from Friday, June 10, a visit to Morocco to strengthen bilateral cooperation in various areas. Olga Sanchez will be accompanied by the President of the Foreign Relations Commission of the Mexican Senate, and the Senator, President of the Foreign Relations Commission for Asia, the Pacific and Africa, Cora Cecilia Pinedo Alonso.
While welcoming this visit, the President of the Mexican
Senate told MAP, during a meeting held on June 7 with the Ambassador of the Kingdom in Mexico, Abdelfattah Lebbar, that “this visit will be an opportunity to strengthen cooperation between Rabat and Mexico City, especially in the management of migration and the fight against climate change, among other issues of common interest.

Sanchez expects this visit to help give new impetus to bilateral cooperation between Rabat and Mexico through greater coordination and consultation between parliaments and institutions of both countries.
She stressed that Mexico also attaches importance to its cooperation with Morocco, especially in the legalization of cannabis for medicinal and industrial purposes, strengthening gender equality and in the field of renewable energy.   For
his part, the chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee in the Senate, Hector Vasconcelos, highlighted the importance of legislative institutions in promoting bilateral cooperation, and their role in defending the interests of both peoples and friendly countries in international organizations and forums. The two countries can coordinate their positions on issues of common interest, he explained to MAP, calling to intensify meetings and exchanges for a cooperation based on concrete mutually beneficial projects.
The Moroccan ambassador recalled that beyond the bilateral level, the Moroccan-Mexican cooperation also has a multilateral character based on coordination, consultation and alignment of positions on regional and international issues.
He added: “Parliamentary cooperation is a vital element of relations between countries, and a lever to consolidate the ties of cooperation and exchange,” adding that the visit of the Mexican delegation “will undoubtedly be an opportunity to establish a lasting political dialogue.
Moreover, it should be recalled that Morocco and Mexico celebrate this year the 60th anniversary of the establishment of their diplomatic relations.
