Russian-Ukrainian conflict: a Moroccan faces the death penalty in a court in Donetsk

Three individuals have pleaded guilty in a court in Donetsk Oblast, the British news agency Reuters revealed, citing the Russian agency RIA.

A video clip published by the Russian Information Agency showed Britain’s Aiden Aslin, Shaun Pinner and Morocco’s Brahim Saadoun in a courtroom.

The same source said Pinner and Saadoun would have pleaded guilty to actions aimed at seizing power through violence, noting that prosecutors had explained that this could mean the death penalty for the three men.

This information has not been commented so far, neither by the British Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Commonwealth and Development nor by the Moroccan Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The three men are on trial in the Donetsk People’s Republic, which, along with Lugansk, are two breakaway states in Ukraine recognized by Russia in February.
