The intervention teams continue their sustained efforts to overcome four fire outbreaks in the forest “Khandek Tessyana” in the commune of Galaz (circle of Ghafsai), said local sources in the province of Taounate.
The teams, composed of elements of the Civil Protection, Water and Forests, the Royal Gendarmerie, the Auxiliary Forces, local authorities and volunteers, continue their efforts without respite on Tuesday evening to control these outbreaks, despite the strong gusts of wind.
These efforts have ensured the safety of the inhabitants of Douar Taouraret adjacent to the area affected by the forest fires, the same sources added that a provisional balance sheet shows the fire of 33 hectares composed of pine trees and secondary plant species.
Local authorities in the province of Taounate had announced on Monday that one person had died and another was injured to varying degrees on Monday while participating as volunteers alongside the teams trying to put out the fire.
