Santa Barbara – Kotor Sister Cities

September 5, 2022 / For immediate release:

A unique event will take place at the Music Academy of the West on Sunday, October 2, 2022 at 4:00 pm.  This event is dedicated to celebrating over a decade of collaboration between Sister Cities, Santa Barbara and Kotor, and presenting the newly established ME&US Fund.

The ME&US Fund is built on two-decades of experience in civil and cultural diplomacy, under the framework of the Santa Barbara – Kotor Sister City Committee.  The mission of the ME&US Fund will be to strengthen the civil and cultural ties between our two countries.  The Fund will implement educational, cultural, sports, artistic, and other socially engaged exchanges to intertwine American values with Montenegrin culture.

Cultural Intertwining, the presentation of a project supported by the U.S. Embassy in Montenegro, four musicians and two composers from UCSB Department of Music and Montenegro, after performing at KotorArt Festival in August, will present two original compositions to the Santa Barbara audience.

The event will also include a short documentary film about the ties between the USA and Montenegro, inspiring performances by the young musicians from U.S. and Montenegro, guitarist MILOŠ and Nicholas Crown Prince of Montenegro, and presenting the Montenegro-USA Friendship award to Santa Barbara’s, Dr. Ichak K. Adizes.

Tickets for the event are free and limited, via RSVP, by emailing to:  [email protected].
