Africa CHAN 2022 : Morocco threatens to boycott the competition if…

Nations (CHAN 2022) planned in Algeria from January 13 to February 4, 2023. The president of the Royal Moroccan Federation of Football (FRMF) has gone up this Tuesday.

With the approach of the CHAN in Algeria, the participating countries are getting ready to participate. Morocco will be represented by its selection of under 23 years. This Tuesday, during a meeting of the board of directors of the FRMF, the president Fouzi Lekjaa reiterated this option.

In addition, the kingdom wants to put its delegation in better condition. To this end, the leader said that his organization has requested, in a letter to the Confederation of African Football (CAF), that the reception of selections respects the specifications of the competition.

Morocco is demanding that its selection reach Constantine via a direct flight from Rabat on a plane of Royal Air Maroc, the official carrier of national teams. If this condition is not met, Morocco will simply boycott the competition.

As a reminder, Algeria has broken off diplomatic relations with Morocco since August 2021 accused of “hostile actions. The country has closed its airspace to all aircraft registered in Morocco. To reach Algeria, Moroccan teams are forced to make a detour through Tunisia.

On the occasion of this sporting event, will a solution be found for direct flights between these two countries? It is difficult to foresee.
