A cigarette worth a murder and 20 years in prison

The Criminal Division of the Court of Appeal of Tangier has recently rendered its verdict in a case of voluntary manslaughter, finding the respondent guilty, aged thirty-eight years, and sentencing him to twenty years of imprisonment with damages in the amount of 70 thousand dirhams. Before the court, the defendant confessed his crime while stating that he did not intend to kill the victim who provoked him. In this regard, the respondent who sells cigarettes in detail told the court that the victim came to him to ask for a cigarette while refraining from paying him the money. An argument broke out between them. Still according to the statements of the respondent, the victim armed herself with a small knife and tried to give him a blow. The latter managed to tear it off him to hit him in the chest.
