Six years in prison and a 375,000 euro fine for Saad Lamjarred

The Paris Assize Court sentenced Moroccan singer Saad Lamjarred to six years in prison on Friday after he was convicted of raping and beating a young woman in a hotel room in the capital in October 2016.
 
After several hours of deliberation, the court announced that it is “convinced” of the rape, “described consistently and accurately” by the civil party since her complaint. A committal order was issued, Saad Lamjarred will therefore be detained immediately and has 10 days to appeal.

The case dates back to October 2016, when laura P. (civil party) and Saad Lamjarred liked each other, to their meeting in a posh nightclub in the capital, surely still during a first after party, and also when she agreed to follow him to his hotel on the Champs-Elysees, recalls the prosecution – Laura P. herself recognized that she was considering a “flirtation”.

According to the version that the young woman Saad Lamjarred had suddenly become violent as they kissed on the carpet of the hotel room, before raping and hitting her.

Saad Lamjarred him, firmly disputes any sexual abuse, and just recognizes having “brutally pushed the face” of the young woman who had, according to him, suddenly scratched in the back while they undressed.
