Al Haouz / Medical caravan More than 700 beneficiaries from rural areas

More than 700 mothers and children, including nearly 300 from remote areas, have benefited from medical services offered as part of a multidisciplinary medical caravan organized on February 25 and 26 in the town of Ourika.

Initiated by the NGO MekkiL’ in partnership with the Provincial Directorate of Health and Social Protection of Marrakech-Safi and Dar Al Oumouma of Ourika, this caravan is part of the operation “Securaid”, aimed at facilitating access to care for populations in need.

It mobilized more than twenty doctors and fifteen nurses and midwives to provide consultations ranging from general medicine, gynecology, dermatology, pediatrics, otolaryngology, gastroenterology, neurology, endocrinology to dental care.

Several prevention and awareness campaigns, including breast and uterine cancer screening, oral health education and maternal and child health education, have been organized for the benefit of the inhabitants of remote and isolated areas.

Warm clothes and boots were distributed to the benefit of mothers and children at the end of this operation. During this medical caravan, some 1,200 boxes of medicines were also distributed free of charge, in addition to 2,000 dental kits as part of the prevention campaign and awareness of oral hygiene.

In order to contribute to “overcome the fear of the white coat”, MekkiL’ has set up a Kids Center on site, allowing children to dance, play, color and sing, the animation being provided by a clown come for the occasion.

As a reminder, the operation “Securaid” carried out in March 2022 in Tassoultante, at the health center of Sidi Moussa, had benefited more than 1,200 people from the Commune, through a complete health course with free access to the pharmacy, supervised by more than 45 doctors and twenty nurses.
