International Festival of Nomads in M’hamid El Ghizlane

The town of M’hamid El Ghizlane, once a stopover for trans-Saharan trade caravans, will host, from April 29 to May 1, the 18th edition of the International Festival of Nomads, organized by the Association Nomades du Monde. This edition will highlight the traditions and specific activities of nomads that are an integral part of their culture, to the delight of thousands of visitors from around the world to discover an authentic and immersive experience in the heart of nomadic culture, said Friday the organizers in a statement. This event, which takes place outdoors in a remarkable natural setting, is “a unique opportunity to discover and celebrate the rich heritage of nomads through concerts and performances, exhibitions, workshops and conferences,” the statement added. Many artists and musicians from different countries will perform on stage, offering the public a rich and varied program, notes the same source, specifying that this is, among others, the Lebanese diva Jahida Wehbi, the Tuareg bluesman Ahmed Ag Kaedy, the group Africa Fusion from Senegal, Burkina Faso and Ghana, the chaâbi musician Youness Boulmani and many other talents who will thrill the public with their spellbinding music. The menu also includes performances of Amazigh music Tarwa N-Tiniri, Dakat Saï, a traditional music and dance troupe from the Draa Valley.
