Témara: a policeman draws his weapon in the face of a man threatening his colleagues

On Friday evening, a police officer in Témara was forced to use his official weapon to arrest an 18-year-old who had threatened his colleagues with a knife.

At midnight on Friday, a security guard working for the mobile police rescue brigade in the Témara security district was forced to use his service weapon during an intervention to arrest an 18-year-old individual who refused to comply and exposed police officers to a serious and dangerous threat using a knife.

Police had begun the operation to apprehend the suspect, an ex-convict, and his accomplice, who were under the influence of drugs and threatening the safety of citizens on the public highway in the Nahda district of Témara, said a security source, adding that the suspect refused to comply and put up fierce resistance to police officers to facilitate the escape of his accomplice, which forced the officer to use his service weapon and fire warning bullets.

The accused was hit in the lower limbs, the same source said, noting that the use of the service weapon neutralized the danger emanating from the suspect and enabled him to be arrested.

The searches led to the seizure of two cell phones, the spoils of robberies, and a motorcycle used in this criminal activity.

The suspect was placed under medical supervision at the hospital, where he was transferred to receive the necessary treatment pending a judicial investigation under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office, while the search for the second suspect continues.
