The Hand Over of the Lalla Hasnaa “Sustainable Coast” Trophies 2019

The Sidi Kenkouch 1 beach development project, sponsored by the Crédit Agricole du Maroc group, won one of the Lalla Hasnaa trophies for the 2019 “Sustainable Coast” in the “Clean Beaches Program” category. The same trophy was won by: the project to rehabilitate the former Souiriya beach, sponsored by the Office Chérifien des Phosphates (OCP), the Eco-estivage and pollution control project on Dahomey beach, sponsored by Barid Al Maghrib, and the Cleanliness Brigade project on Saidia beach, sponsored by the Homarcom group, as well as the project relating to awareness-raising, sports, cultural and artistic activities for the benefit of young people and summer visitors to Bouznika beach, sponsored by the National Electricity and Water Board – Water Branch.

In the “Sharing and Living Environment” category, the Lalla Hasnaa trophies were won by: the “Weigh your bag and win a fabric” project at Haouzia beach, sponsored by the People’s Bank Foundation, the “Citizens’ stones and pebbles” project at Oued El Marsa beach, sponsored by the North Africa Tobacco Company, the “Our young people are the best friends of the marine environment” project, carried out by the Al Marjane company for diving and water sports at the Marina of Salé, as well as by the initiative “All to protect our maritime heritage”, carried out by the Association of Champions of the City of Fnideq for underwater sports and environmental protection.

The trophies in the category “Protection and enhancement of the natural heritage” went to: “Atlantic Marine Treasures Tour”, organized by the Moroccan Association for Underwater Archaeological Research and Protection in Safi; the “Manufacture and Immersion of Artificial Reefs” project, led by the Agency for the Development of the Marchica Lagoon Site; the “Ecology and Development of Algal Biomass of the Oriental Mediterranean Coast” project, carried out by Mohammed 1st University in Oujda; the enhancement of Japanese sargasso, a brown seaweed from the Atlantic coast, carried out by the Faculty of Science of El Jadida; and the project to create a natural site at the mouth of the Sakia El Hamra valley, carried out by the Anfis Association for the Environment and Agricultural Development in Foum El Oued.

The 3rd edition of the Lalla Hasnaa “Sustainable Coastal Awards” was presented to the Hassan II International Center for Environmental Training in Bouguenadel during a ceremony presided over by His Royal Highness Lalla Hasnaa.
