Princess Lalla Hasnaa Chairs a Board of Directors in Rabat

Princess Lalla Hasnaa, President of the “Foundation for the Preservation of Rabat’s Cultural Heritage”, chaired, on Friday, the Board of Directors of this Foundation, devoted to make a progress report on the state of conservation of the city’s cultural heritage and draw up the program of actions that will be carried out during the current year.

The city of Rabat has seen, under the guidance of King Mohammed VI, the realization of many structuring projects, including the program “Rabat, City of Light, Cultural Capital of Morocco”, as well as programs relating to the treatment of city’s fragile houses, the development of the Bouregreg Valley and the preservation and enhancing the ancient medina of Rabat and Salé.

Other major socio-cultural projects were also supported by the Royal High Commission, including the Mohammed VI Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, the Grand Theater of Rabat and the Museum of the Udayas.

With regard to future actions, the Board of Directors agreed to establish an annual assessment of the conservation of the heritage of the city of Rabat, the organization of periodic events and workshops related to heritage preservation, as well as the implementation of an ambitious project for the digitalization of the heritage of Rabat.

The Foundation for the Preservation of the Cultural Heritage of Rabat aims to perpetuate and transmit the historical, architectural, artistic, landscape, tangible and intangible values inherent in the Cultural Heritage of Rabat. To achieve this, it monitors the heritage, promotes synergy between the actors concerned by the preservation of the heritage and works to raise awareness, promote and evaluate the state of conservation of the heritage.
