Princess Lalla Meryem, President of the National Observatory for the Rights of the Child (ONDE), presided over the closing ceremony of the 16th edition of the National Congress on the Rights of the Child, which coincides with the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the International Convention on the Rights of the Child (UN), in Marrakech on Saturday.
Lalla Meryem followed, on this occasion, a screen presentation of the film recounting the “30 years of the International Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC): Assessment, challenges and prospects”.
The princess also received a presentation on the National Pact for Children (Roadmap to 2030) from the Executive Director of the National Observatory for the Rights of the Child (ONDE), Lamia Bazir.
The ceremony was also marked by the presentation on screen of the “The United Nations Champion Generation Unlimited” Prize awarded to Princess Lalla Meryem by the United Nations.
The UN award was then presented to Lalla Meryem by Geert Cappelaere, Senior Advisor in the Office of the Executive Director of UNICEF.
Subsequently, the Princess posed for a souvenir photo with all the signatories to the Covenant, the President of the UNICEF Executive Board, Omar Hilale, the Senior Advisor in the Office of the UNICEF Executive Director, Geert Cappelaere, the Secretary-General of the United Cities and Local Governments of Africa, Jean-Pierre Elong Mbass, as well as with bright and parliamentary children.
At the end of the ceremony, Princess Lalla Meryem headed for the outdoor stage, where she attended the launch of the national song for children produced for the occasion and performed by renowned Moroccan artists.
Upon her arrival in Bab Jdid, the venue for the closing ceremony of the 16th National Congress on the Rights of the Child, Lalla Meryem reviewed an honored Auxiliary Forces detachment, before being greeted by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Habib El Malki, the Minister of State for Human Rights and Relations with Parliament, Mustapha Ramid, the Minister of Justice, Mohamed Benabdelkader, Minister of National Education, Vocational Training, Higher Education and Scientific Research, Said Amzazi, Minister of Health, Khalid Ait Taleb, Minister of Solidarity, Social Development, Equality and Family, Jamila El Moussali, Minister Delegate to the Minister of Interior, Noureddine Boutayeb, as well as several other personalities.
