The Austrian newspaper “Kurier” highlighted the tourist assets and the civilizational richness of the city of Marrakech, stating that the ochre city offers “a journey of a thousand and one nights filled with colors and luxurious tastes”. “Marrakech is undeniably the perfect embodiment of the enchanting Orient, with its sumptuous tastes, bright colors and captivating fragrances emanating from the souks and ancient alleyways,” wrote the newspaper in an article illustrated with photos, published in the “Travel and Entertainment” section. The newspaper evokes “the magic of the riads of Marrakech, with their ancient architectural styles illustrating the cultural and civilizational richness of the Kingdom, their decorated arches, the height of their doors and the amplitude of their patios, in addition to the breathtaking view of the ancient city,” adding that many riads are nowadays transformed into hotels and restaurants that welcome visitors from all over the world.
Evoking the modern part of the city, the daily routine highlights its wide avenues and the harmony of the buildings with their ochre color and the modern shops, in addition to the multitude of motorcycles and bicycles that constitute a popular means of transport in the city. In this respect, the article cites the experience of the young Zahra who manages a Dutch project “Pikala Bikes” aimed at promoting the discovery of the magic of the ochre city through bicycle tours and involving the city’s youth in ecological tourism. The daily also focuses on women’s cooperatives located in the south of the city, on the road to Agadir, in the middle of the Atlas mountains where nature is wild and the desert is warm, producing the famous argan oil: “The production of argan oil is not only an income-generating activity for these women, but also a means of preserving local customs and a generous contribution to the beauty industry,” the daily writes.
