Foreign nationals, including Moroccans, who hold Schengen visas, US and UK visas now have free access to Saudi Arabia. The General Authority of Civil Aviation of the Wahhabi Kingdom has just sent a circular to air operators, announcing this new measure, to the delight of those who would like to perform an “Umrah” at any time of the year.
All that is required is that the visa is valid and has already been used. It is not even necessary to check the nationalities of visitors.
It should be remembered that last September Saudi Arabia announced that tourist visas will be issued for the first time.
With this move, Riyadh aims to diversify its economy and prepare for the post-oil era. The revival of tourism is one of the central parts of the reform program “Vision 2030” of Crown Prince Mohamed Ben Salman.
The Wahhabi Kingdom will thus offer online tourist visas to nationals of 49 countries, including the United States, Australia, Canada and New Zealand. In addition to 7 Asian countries and 38 European countries.
