At the age of 23, Sofyan Amrabat is enjoying the best period of his career. The Moroccan from Hellas Verona is delighted the breathtaking victory last Saturday against Juventus.
The 23-year-old Atlas Lion is going through a period of glory in Italy. He was the center of attention for Hellas Verona, dominating the match against leaders Juventus (2-1).
The sports daily La Gazzetta dello Sport gave him the top mark, 7.5, with the comment: “The boss of the midfield. He played the best of his team, always ready for 90 minutes with an excellent reading of the game.”
Having just transferred to Fiorentina for 20 million euros (a club he will only join this summer), the Moroccan is currently enjoying his new status as a Serie A top player, not forgetting the road he has traveled since his difficult debut at Feyenoord and then FC Brugge: “Everyone is surprised in the Netherlands. The game was broadcast on Ziggo Sport, so people were able to appreciate my performance and reconsider their judgment. A lot of people thought I was playing beyond my capabilities, but I’ve been at this level for a long time,” he told Dutch daily De Telegraaf.
The Hellas Verona star was full of praise for his progress since his Serie A debut and the consideration of his opponents: “It’s true that in the beginning I was unknown, nobody knew me. But now with all the stats going around, I see that the opponents now have a special treatment for me (…) How far can I go? It’s hard to say. Maybe my career is the best proof that anything is possible. I try to make the most out of it every day.”
Amrabat is performing well in Italy, where he’s established himself as an essential part of the Halilhodzic’s eleven. The best is yet to come for Nordin’s little brother.
