From 11 to 14 June 2020, Jazzablanca will be back for its fifteenth edition. The festival will open the summer season of festivals with its unique concept, faithful to live music, musical discoveries, the joy of mixing and cultural exchange.
As a unique and constantly evolving festival, Jazzablanca offers each edition a special concept and an exceptional atmosphere: a mix of open-air stages, with a variety of concerts each evening, spaces dedicated to training and exchange, food stands and activities for young and old alike.
In 2019, the festival brought together nearly 79,000 festival-goers and offered more than 58 concerts to the rhythms of jazz, soul, funk, groove, rock and electronic music.
Accessible to the entire population, thanks in particular to its free stage, Jazzablanca offers Casablanca’s inhabitants the opportunity to discover artists and cultures from all over the world. Thus, 80% of festival-goers have free access through the BMCI Stage.
If jazz remains the historical thread of Jazzablanca, a large place is given each year to current music and especially to discoveries. Festival-goers can thus discover new artists alongside international stars, who often perform for the first time in Morocco or even Africa.
In this sense, Jazzablanca is repeating for the fifth year the call for applications for Moroccan artists or artists residing in Morocco. The festival thus continues its approach of promotion, diffusion and enhancement of emerging artists of the Moroccan scene.
In 2019, 15 groups of musicians have been selected and have performed as opening acts on the Village and BMCI stages.
All forms of contemporary music are concerned. (see list of music styles on the form).
Candidates must be able to propose at least three original compositions and a stage performance of at least one hour.
The deadline for sending applications is Sunday March 22, 2020 at midnight.
