The Internet subscriber base grew by 11.43% to 25.38 million in 2019, recording a 71.33% household penetration rate, according to the National Telecommunications Regulatory Agency (ANRT).
The “mobile Internet” customer base grew by 11.22% over the past year, compared with +2.21% in 2018, to reach 23.68 million subscribers, the ANRT stated in a press release on developments in the telecommunications sector in 2019.
The growth in the mobile Internet customer base had a direct effect on the use of mobile data, whose traffic increased by more than 30% over the year, notes the same source.
For its part, the 4G customer base reached 15.72 million, an annual increase of 63.66%, the ANRT states, adding that the ADSL customer base reached 1.48 million at the end of December 2019, up 4.07%.
The optical fiber (FTTH) customer base reached 121,237 subscriptions in 2019 compared with 73,169 one year earlier.
