Former Manchester United player Marouane Fellaini left hospital on Tuesday after recovering from Covid-19, announced his club Shandong Luneng, currently playing in the Chinese top league.
“Fellaini was examined and found to be cured and was released from hospital today,” Shandong Luneng, the eastern Jinan club where the former Manchester United player has been under contract for a year, reported in a brief statement.
As required by protocol in China, the 32-year-old will spend 14 days in quarantine before being allowed to resume training.
The announcement of his illness on 22 March, just after his return to China, had shattered expectations of a quick return to the Chinese Super League, the national league.
According to official figures, China has managed to contain the spread of the Coronavirus, but the authorities now fear a second wave of cases from abroad.
