“The President thanked His Majesty for this positive initiative, and expressed his willingness to work for the success of the approach which will soon be the subject of a video conference between the Heads of State and Government of the countries concerned,” the same source said.
King Mohammed VI had, on Monday, telephone conversations with the Presidents of Senegal, Macky Sall, and Ivory Coast, Alassane Dramane Ouattara, respectively, on the alarming evolution of the Covid-19 pandemic in the African continent. During these talks, the King proposed the launch of an initiative of African Heads of State aimed at establishing an operational framework to support African countries in their various phases of pandemic management.
This is, according to a statement by the Royal Cabinet, “a practical and action-oriented initiative, allowing for the sharing of experiences and best practices, to face the health, economic and social impact of the pandemic”.
