Moroccan Justice: The Court of Appeal Holds its First Hearing from Distance

On Wednesday, the Court of Appeal held its first remote hearing, which was devoted to extradition cases.

The accused, foreigners of different nationalities, communicated by videoconference with the judges in charge of their cases and this, after their consent and in the presence of interpreters and their defense, in accordance with the conditions of fair trial, the Court of Appeal said in a statement.

This hearing, which has a great symbolic significance, comes within the framework of the strong commitment of the Court of Appeal in all the initiatives of the Supreme Council of the Judiciary, to preserve the health and safety of detainees and people in this exceptional health situation, while ensuring the continuity of the judicial service and the exercise of its constitutional, legal and judicial functions, underlined the same source.

The Court of Appeal had made the renovation work one of the priorities of its strategic plan as of 2013 and had begun to develop several programs in order to implement mechanisms for the quality, efficiency, transparency and development of judicial work.
