Over one million people watched the video broadcast by Moroccan Rabbi Yoshiyahu Pinto on the occasion of the Jewish celebrations of “Lag Baomer”, which honors the memory of Rabbi Shimon Bar Yohai.
During this festival, thousands of Jews gather at the tomb of Rabbi Shimon Bar Yohai on Mount Meron, Israel’s highest mountain, located northwest of the city of Galilee. They light fires and candles, recite prayers and religious songs in memory of this miracle-working rabbi.
In this video, which has been seen by more than a million of the 10 million Jews around the world, Rabbi Pinto expressed his regret that this year Jews were unable to visit the tomb of Rabbi Shimon Bar Yohai because all roads leading to it were closed as part of preventive measures against the Coronavirus. But he called on his fellow believers to read “Al-Zohar”, the holy book attributed to Shimon Bar Yohai and considered the most important of the Kabbalian heritage.
Rabbi Pinto stressed that reading Al-Zohar, such a book full of light and wisdom (Al-Zohar means “brightness”), and helps purify and uplift the soul, just as it promises the Jews good days and predicts the lifting of calamities and disasters.
