Israel: The Dead Sea Gathers Lovers from All Over the World

Together with the former fashion designer, now an entrepreneur and an art collector Ari Leon Fruchter, Bedein is currently setting the foundation for the Dead Sea Museum, which features virtual reality art exhibitions and digital artworks, with a permanent virtual museum.

“This is a great way for people to show their support for an environmental concern. It’s exciting to see so much attention being paid to the Dead Sea,” Bedein noted. “The Dead Sea is a story in itself in regional cooperation, advancing technology and water solutions especially for the water-scarce region.”

“Jordan today is one of the four driest countries in the world,” he continued. “Thus, the first priority of the ‘Red-Dead Canal’ is to provide desalinated water to Jordan with the cooperation of Israel, the Palestinian Authority and Jordan.”

“Environmental diplomacy can help promote Israeli water technology and solutions, and ultimately can influence public opinion,” Bedein said. “For many countries, the first act of normalization with Israel is using its water technology.”

The competition has received a lot of attention in the Middle East, perhaps due to the partnership of the Dead Sea Revival Project with Earth Day Middle East, as part of the global Earth Day Network, which shares an announcement of the competition with 34 eco-organizations in the Middle East and North Africa .

More than 3,500 photographers who participated in the Israeli challenge were photographers from the Palestinian Authority, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait.

“The message I want to convey through my photography is that just as there are hidden layers beneath the surface of the Dead Sea revealing the beautiful salt formations that speak of the past, so all humans have multiple layers of memories and emotions beneath our surface,” Khan continued. “These may not be visible at first glance, but if you look closer and dig deeper, you’re bound to find them eventually, which will help us understand each other better.”
