Chelsea are on their way towards signing Bundesliga star striker Timo Werner from Leipzig, following their successful signing of Hakim Ziyech.
Chelsea are looking to make a move. The German daily Bild claims that Hakim Ziyech’s club would be the destination of choice for Timo Werner, a big star in the Bundesliga (30 games this season with RB Leipzig, 31 goals and 9 assists).
The deal is expected to cost Chelsea around €60 million, which represents the German international’s release clause. The clause is valid until 13 June.
Liverpool, Bayern and Barcelona were all on board. Jürgen Klopp had even convinced the 24-year-old. But Chelsea have now taken the lead.
If Timo Werner does indeed sign with Chelsea, he will sign a five-year contract at €10 million a year.
