According to Tourlane, the online specialist in personalized dream trips, the ochre city has been selected as one of the top 50 green cities to visit.
Marrakech joins the top 50 cities which are increasingly concerned about protecting the environment and have implemented a new sustainable public policy.
This ranking makes the ochre city the number one green city in the Arab world and North Africa.
This ranking of green cities carried out by Tourlane took into account several criteria, namely the accessibility of the cities by train, public transport infrastructures, the number of cars per person, green spaces, the number of tourists per person, air quality, renewable energies and recycling structures in place in the 50 destinations.
Berlin (Germany) was ranked as the top green city to be visited, with Vienna (Austria) and Munich (Germany) following.
London is the highest ranked English-speaking city, while Shenzhen, the green capital of China, is the highest ranked city outside Europe.
The capital of Kenya, Nairobi, was ranked 14th and first in Africa, followed by Cape Town in South Africa (41st).
Among Arab cities, only Marrakech is ranked 50 in the Tourlane ranking of the world’s greenest cities.
