In response to the tragic explosion in the port of Beirut, which claimed several victims and caused extensive material damage, His Majesty King Mohammed VI ordered urgent medical and humanitarian assistance to Lebanon.

Accordingly, His Majesty king Mohammed VI ordered the dispatch and deployment of a military field hospital to Beirut in order to provide emergency medical care to the people wounded in the incident.

The field hospital consists of 100 people, including 14 doctors of several medical specialties (resuscitators, surgeons, traumatologists, ENT specialists, ophthalmologists, burn doctors, neurosurgeons, paediatricians, pharmacists), specialized nurses and support staff. Moreover, it includes an operating room, hospitalization, radiology and sterilization units as well as a laboratory and a pharmacy.

Other items in the Moroccan aid package include a first-aid kit of emergency medicines, food products (canned food, pulses, powdered milk, oil, sugar, etc.), tents and blankets to house the disaster victims. It also includes medical equipment for Covid-19 prevention, including protective masks, visors, floats, gowns and hydro-alcoholic gel.

It should be noted that His Majesty sent, on Tuesday, a message of condolence and compassion to the President of the Lebanese Republic, Michel Aoun. In this message, the sovereign expressed, on his own behalf and on behalf of the Moroccan people, his sincere feelings of compassion and solidarity with Lebanon in these difficult moments. His Majesty assured that the Kingdom of Morocco stands firmly at the side of the brotherly Lebanese people.
