One thousand five hundred sixty-seven (1,567) new cases of Coronavirus infection (Covid-19) and 1,569 recoveries have been recorded in Morocco during the last 24 hours, announced Saturday the Ministry of Health.
This new assessment brings the number of infections in the Kingdom to 60,056 since the first reported case on March 2. As for those fully recovered, 44,618 people have been cured, representing a 74.3% recovery rate. Mouad Mrabet, coordinator of the National Center for Emergency Public Health Operations at the Ministry of Health, announced on Saturday.
The number of deaths rose to 1,078, with 26 new deaths recorded in the last 24 hours (8 in Casablanca, 5 in Marrakech, 4 in Fez, 2 in Errachidia and El Hajeb and one death in Settat, Sidi Slimane, Inezgane-Ait Melloul, Meknes and Ifrane) he added, noting that the mortality rate is 1.8%.
The incidence rate is 165.4/100,000 inhabitants, he said, noting that in the last 24 hours, 4.3 people out of 100,000 inhabitants have been infected.
Regarding active cases, Mr. Mrabet noted that 14,360 people are currently under treatment.
Regarding geographical distribution, M. Mrabet said that 609 cases have been identified in the region of Casablanca-Settat, 349 in Marrakech-Safi, 132 in Rabat-Salé-Kénitra, 122 in Fez-Meknes, 112 in Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima, 95 in Draâ-Tafilalet, 49 in Beni Mellal Khénifra, 34 in Souss-Massa, 24 in the Oriental, 21 in Dakhla-Oued Dahab, 19 cases in Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra and one case in Guelmim-Oued Noun.
The number of cases excluded after negative laboratory results amounts to 20,852 for a total of 1,830,908.
Regarding people in critical condition, he reported 198 cases admitted in the intensive care and resuscitation units, including 41 intubated people (18 in Casablanca-Settat, 9 in Fez-Meknes, 7 in Marrakech-Safi, 3 in Rabat-Salé-Kénitra, 2 in Tangier-Tétouan-Al Hoceima and one person in Draâ-Tafilalet and Oriental).
