Covid-19: Closure of a Mosque in Tangier

The Regional Delegation of Islamic Affairs Closed on Friday the “Aswiriyin” Mosque in Tangier because of the Coronavirus. This is because several cases of covid-19 have been recorded among the faithful who went daily to the mosque to perform their prayers.

The decision to close the mosque was thus taken to prevent it from becoming an infectious outbreak. The date of the reopening has not been announced.

It is worth mentioning that 1,750 new cases of Coronavirus infection and 1,260 recoveries have been recorded in Morocco in the last 24 hours, announced Friday the Ministry of Health.

This new assessment brings the number of contaminations in the Kingdom to 68,605 since the first case reported on March 2. The number of people fully recovered to 52,483, representing a cure rate of 76.5%, the Ministry said in its daily report.

The new cases are distributed among the regions of Casablanca-Settat (590), Rabat-Salé-Kénitra (210), Marrakech-Safi (203), Dakhla-Oued Eddahab (171), Darâa-Tafilalet (139), Fez-Meknes (130), Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima (115), Béni Mellal-Khénifra (96), Souss-Massa (44), l’Oriental (38), Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra (09) and Guelmim-Oued Noun (05).
