Jewish Book: Israel I love you too

Uncompromising chronicles of the difficult relations between Israeli society and the Jews of the diaspora at the moment when this debate was relaunched in France by the book by Sylvain Cypel, The State of Israel against the Jews.

The columns collected in this book, written and, for many of them, published between 2001 and 2019, are based almost entirely on what Israeli journalists have written about their country.

The aim was less to share the author’s mixed feelings about recent Israeli political life on the national and international scene than to convey the message of those who live in Israel or Palestine and who can testify to its devastating effects on relations between the Jewish diaspora and the State of Israel.

At least this is the thesis of the author, whose affection for the country where milk and honey flowed dried up after the Six Day War in 1967 and the annexation of the territories, most of which are still occupied 52 years later.
