- The event to set a path for resilient economic recovery in Africa
The Annual Investment Meeting has completed the preparations for AIM AFRICA Conference, which will start today until the 30th of June 2021 via Events10x Virtual Platform. The two-day, virtual conference will deeply explore the developmental potential of the African continent and highlight its huge opportunities that can serve as key sources of economic progress, not only for this region, but for the world.
Each of the event six pillars namely Foreign Direct Investment, Small & Medium Enterprises,
Future Cities, Start-ups, Foreign Portfolio Investment and One Belt, One Road will offer different dynamic activities that will provide numerous benefits to various sectors. Thus, AIM Africa will be a 360-degree approach that will cover key economic aspects to intensify efforts towards economic growth and expansion.
More than 80 expert speakers, 1817 participants from 81 countries including heads of state, government ministers, and other top public officials will join the first digital edition of AIM AFRICA. Among them is H.E Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo President of the Republic of Ghana, set to deliver a special keynote address during the Opening Ceremony.
Other high-level speakers joining the conference include H.E Sheikh Shakhboot Nahyan Al Nahyan – Cabinet Member and Minister of State in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of The United Arab Emirates and H.E Ambassador Mariam Yalwaji Katagum – Federal Minister of State, Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment of The Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Representatives from the United Nations Commission for Africa (UNECA) will also participate at AIM AFRICA. UNECA will lead two sessions focused on analysing various ways of boosting Intra-African investment flows, and provide solid frameworks that can strengthen the basis for investment policy aimed at attracting Intra-African investment.
The discussion will also include issues on how the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) may be harnessed to promote greater coherence and coordination on investment regulation that may help to level the playing field for attracting greater investments from within the continent and beyond.
In addition, UNCTAD’s Director of the Investment and Enterprise Division, James Zhan will also participate in the event and share African insights from the World Investment Forum 2021 Report.
Guided by the event theme Africa Unlocked: Innovation and Sustainability as Drivers of Economic Growth, various organisations have come on board in support of AIM AFRICA. Partners include the IsDB Group, DUBUY by DPWorld, Ajman Free Zone, United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) and Southern Africa Development Community (SADC).
This conference congregates the sharpest and brightest in investment, technology, entrepreneurship and innovation leadership from Africa and other parts of the world with a common goal to revive the Africa economy through collaborative conversations.
